Have you been hacked today?

What do Michelle Obama, Hillary Clinton, Donald Trump, Eric Holder, Joe Biden, Beyonce and Sarah Palin have in common? All recently had financial details lifted by a hacker and later posted online. As if to demonstrate how vulnerable we all are to acts of cyber terrorism, even FBI Director Robert Mueller’s financial information was lifted and posted online.

While the FBI and LAPD – Police Commissioner Charlie Beck was yet another victim – work to apprehend the miscreants, we recommend checking your company’s data security net for potential breaches. Both the tangible and intangible costs of a data breach are significant. These include hard earned goodwill with clients and suppliers, as well as serious financial repercussions.

Of course, even the most stringent data security program is not sufficient. Just ask Colin Powell, whose Facebook page was recently hacked. Put simply: Data security breaches will occur. To guard against this occurrence, all companies must be prepared to transfer their risk through proper insurance coverage when a breach occurs.

As risk management advisors and insurance professionals, we are knowledgeable regarding data security risks and are dedicated to helping our clients prepare for them. It is our job to help protect your company from the potentially ruinous effects of a data breach.

  • Develop and execute a plan to seal areas of vulnerability.
  • Review insurance coverage against data security risk profiles on an ongoing basis.
