Auto Fleet Risks – One of the most common moving violations is running a stop sign or red light.

Here are the basics on the enforcement and penalties for Pennsylvania drivers who don’t come to a full stop at the “limit line” (a line painted on the street indicating where to stop), or if there is no limit line, at the entrance to the intersection or crossing.

  1. The fine for running a red light is from $25 – $100 + 3 points.
  2. Red light photo tickets cost a maximum of $100 + 0 points.
  3. Pennsylvania drivers can make a right on red where allowed. They can also make a left on red when both the origination and destination streets go one way.
  4. Pennsylvania drivers are allowed to deliberately drive through a yellow light, so long as the vehicle enters the intersection or passes the crosswalk or limit line before the light turns red.
