- The Federal government estimates there are approximately 48 million cases of food-borne illness annually.
- Approximately 1 in 6 Americans get sick, 128,000 are hospitalized and 3,000 die of food-borne diseases.
- The very young, the elderly, and persons with weakened immune systems are at greatest risk of serious consequences from most food-borne illnesses.
